Colombia growing stronger in the Meetings & Conference Tourism

An economic impact study by ProColombia and the Mexican firm STA Consultores revealed that the meetings industry brought US $2.4 Billion to Colombian economy, equaling 22.8% of tourism’s total spillover in Colombia. In addition, this figure represented a 0.43% share of Colombia’s gross domestic product. 

Total profit generated by this industry is distributed across many layers of the population, since over 60% of spending was made in non-tourism related sectors, such as exhibit production, translation, decoration, or facility rentals.

The equivalent of 23% of tourism's economic contribution in Colombia comes from the Meetings Industry. Business events generated 218,135 jobs and attracted 468,994 international attendees to Colombia during 2018.

500 foreign investors seek new business in Colombia

Colombia, the South American powerhouse for bicycle tourism

Bicentennial Macro Matchmaking Forum generated 34.5 million dollars

In total, 937 buyers from 52 countries participated in the Bicentennial Macro Matchmaking Forum and had the opportunity to learn about Colombian talent, represented by 2,097 business owners from 25 departments.
 
"This event highlighted buyers’ and exporters’ confidence in Colombia in general, and specifically in ProColombia as an ally for internationalization," Santoro said, since 58% of buyers (543), as well as 796 Colombian business owners, were first-time participants.

Colombia seeks more investments in Asia

A Colombian mission consisting of the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Tourism, ProColombia, and regional investment promotion agencies Invest Pacific and ProBarranquilla will visit Japan and China between March 21 and 30 to attend the annual Inter-American Development Bank meeting in Chengdu, China. During the visit, they will present Colombia's competitive advantages as a tourism, business, and investment destination, as well as its status as an export platform to regional third markets.

Colombia exhibits leisure travel options during ITB 2019

Berlin, February 2019. In the 2019 edition of ITB, 24 Colombian business representatives will promote Colombia's wide range of leisure travel options. They will offer various tourism products with the support of ProColombia, an international tourism promotion agency.

Colombia's stand will cover about 300 square meters, in which the following cities and regions will be promoted: Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, Santa Marta, Meta, Chocó, the Coffee Belt, and the Amazon.

56% of buyers are at ProColombia Travel Mart for the first time
