In the eighth edition of the investor summit, 12 regions will present their sectorial offerings with potential for the development of new foreign investment projects.

Between November 20 and 28, a new edition of the Colombia Investment Summit, the country's premier foreign investment summit, organized by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism through ProColombia, will take place. The event will host over 700 attendees, including international investors, Colombian entrepreneurs, and supporting entities.

This year, the focus of the meeting is on highlighting the investment potential of Colombian regions. Quindío, Santander, Atlántico, Bolívar, Valle, Caldas, Antioquia, Córdoba, Risaralda, Magdalena, Meta, and Bogotá will showcase their sectorial offerings and projects to international entrepreneurs exploring opportunities in Latin America, as well as to those already established seeking to expand their operations in Colombia.


Carmen Caballero, president of ProColombia, stated, 'For the development of this summit, in which we have had the support of regional investment promotion agencies – APRIS, we have prioritized essential sectors for the attraction of FDI such as agribusiness, energy, tourism, technology-based services, shipbuilding, aeronautics, life sciences, hydrogen, infrastructure, and sustainable mobility, with a clear focus on favoring the country's industrialization, a just energy transition, and integration with the territories.'


Caballero added the organizational commitment, stating, 'We have a mandate from President Gustavo Petro's government and Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Germán Umaña, which is to attract and finalize productive and sustainable investment projects that reach all our territories and enhance the development of our regions. For the four-year period, we have set an ambitious goal to attract non-extractive foreign investment of more than 13 billion dollars, which will allow us to generate jobs and prosperity throughout the country.'


The priority sectors for foreign investment attraction align with the National Government's strategy, which aims to promote sustainable investment and contribute to a just energy transition, competitiveness, and the integrated development of territories.

The event will begin with a high-level academic agenda in Bogotá on November 20 and will feature the participation of President Gustavo Petro Urrego, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism Germán Umaña Mendoza, Minister of Finance and Public Credit Ricardo Bonilla, and several members of the presidential cabinet. They will deliver presentations on FDI as a factor for reducing inequality, generating competitiveness, energy transition, and sustainability.

Additionally, there will be contributions from the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce, the National Planning Department, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá, and ProColombia President Carmen Caballero, who will host the event. Experts and analysts from the country's investment environment will share their perspectives and knowledge.

Foreign investors will have the opportunity to establish strategic alliances and explore projects in search of investment, as well as connect with key entities for their arrival in Colombia, such as national government bodies, free trade zones, local authorities, guilds, and regional promotion agencies.


Foreign Investment for Reindustrialization


The Colombian government has reaffirmed its commitment to attracting investment that contributes to the country's reindustrialization, peacebuilding, and benefits the sectors most affected by inequality, in line with the values of social, economic, and environmental justice in the territories.

ProColombia, as the leading entity in promoting foreign investment in Colombia, works to drive the country's sustainable growth to facilitate the arrival of foreign investment that promotes innovation and technology transfer, generates exports with added value, and promotes the development of human capacity.

During the first year of President Gustavo Petro's administration, ProColombia and regional investment promotion agencies (APRIS) facilitated the arrival of 204 new investment projects, expected to generate over 121,000 new jobs in various regions of the country in the next two to three years.
